Step by Step - Dial-Up to Broadband Internet Connections

Once upon a time, about ten years ago, when the word internet was not even in the dictionary yet.  Everyone communicated through post mails, telephone calls or pagers.  Mobile phones, although already out in the market, has not yet reached the mainstream market.

The internet revolution came as a welcome break from all the hassles of looking for effective ways to communicate with friends, family and colleagues who are far away from you.  Dial-up was the widely-used online connection mode then.

slow-speed, oftentimes hitting downtimes when downloading online and basically, needing your utmost patience; it nonetheless got the message to the recipient no matter the distance – at a much faster rate than postal mail.

With the increasing clamor for a reliable and reliable online connectivity, Internet Service Providers have turned their product focus from dial-up to broadband technology.  These applications include DSL and Cable internet connection.

The idea behind broadband internet is to provide customers the flexibility of being online with a faster speed rate compared to dial-up; and the free use of their telephone line simultaneous with being online.

Dial-up internet necessitate the use of the phone line solely for the internet at the time that you are connected to your dial-up modem.

This ultimately put dial-up connections in the backseat, with broadband now deemed as the most dependable online connection thus far.  While ISPs tend to get more users than their bandwidth can handle, the assumption that not all users will be connecting to the internet simultaneously, their customers still get to take advantage of their share of bandwidth.

There are a lot of things to be benefited from having broadband internet, instead of a dial-up internet access.  Notwithstanding the quicker download rates and the usually hassle-free online connectivity; having your phone line free for calls while connected to the internet is as good a benefit as any.

This is especially beneficial for small businesses where the use of both online connection and phone line is very important.

As a whole, having a broadband internet connection is advantageous to all users in that this is more dependable than dial-up – almost no down times, no glitches with downloads; and has better support for online applications.

Broadband is much cheaper today than it used to be. If you go and visit a site like Bredbaand, you will see that broadband now cost the same as dial-up internet used to do. To sum up, nobody have any excuse for not installing broadband internet at work and at home.
